I have been supporting people with a range of complex mental health difficulties over the last 10 years. Outside of my private practice I continue working as a Mental Health Coordinator for a national homeless charity based in Newcastle.
I am an accredited counsellor/psychotherapist with one of the UKs leading professional bodies, the British Association of Counsellors and the Psychotherapists (BACP). I am also registered with EMDR UK & Ireland. Accredited status represents a higher level of quality assurance than that afforded by a membership status. Accredited therapists have demonstrated professional standards of excellence in their practice to prove they are competent and experienced. BACP registeration number: 65168
I have managed a counselling service for the last 4 years and have been offered coaching and supervision training as part of my role, please get in touch if you would be interested in receiving supervision.
How I work
The focus of my work is client-centred and I work in a creative and adaptable way using a range of psychological models. I don’t believe in 'working in a one approach suits all way', I will collaborate with you in finding a way that works best for you. I draw on a variety of therapeutic frameworks such as Gestalt psychotherapy, Person Centred therapy, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma informed therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). My approach is based on best practice, published research and guidance issued by the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).
