Over the last fifteen years I have supported clients with a range of complex mental health difficulties, as well as support individuals in maintaining a positive mental wellbeing. I’m accredited with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and recognised as an Accredited EMDR Psychotherapist working towards consultant status with EMDR UK a therapy known for the treatment of PTSD. I have predominately worked in charity settings and continue to support local charities such as the Jonathan Upshall Foundation and Changing Lives with Pick Up a Penny.
I spent several years with Mind, in a variety of roles such as, Counsellor, Hospital Discharge Worker, and as a trainer specialising in suicide awareness and prevention. I have also worked with a national homeless charity in Newcastle called Crisis Skylight for over ten years, roles including, counsellor and Mental health Coordinator where I have been able to further my experience working with complex mental health difficulties.
As a trainer I have offered Complex trauma training, suicide intervention training, Susie Lamplugh Personal safety training, Compassion Fatigue and Secondary Traumatic stress as well as run a variety of mental health awareness-based workshops. I continue to provide training for the Jonathan Upshall Foundation.
In the last five years I have developed my own private practice where I am able to work with a range of difficulties specialising in integrative counselling and offering EMDR therapy which focuses on Trauma. I am also working towards consultant status with EMDR UK and currently working with supervisees to help further their EMDR knowledge.
My specialist areas are: PTSD, Complex PTSD, Dissociation, Personality Disorders, Ego-state work (IFS therapy) and Mindfulness practice.
